Beer lovers, few of you probably know that the brewery needs up to 75
liters of water on average to make one liter of your favorite drink.
According to the World Water Report, up to 70% of water is used in
agricultural production but only 3% of it is recycled.
The good news is that some of the world breweries have started to
regulate water consumption some years ago and to find new solutions
to make the beer production more resource efficient.
We have created and piloted the model for sustainable breweries in
collaboration with Tornion Panimo and Rock Paper Scissors breweries.
This is a circular process where the sidestreams from the breweries
can be recycled to produce local fresh hops, the soul of beer. This is
also one reason the PURE-project will contain the Urban Hops Farm, an
indoor hops production facility.
